2027 Ogun Governorship: YPM Targets 60,000 Votes for APC Candidate Solomon Adeola

The Yayi Progressives Movement (YPM) has declared its determination to mobilise no fewer than 60,000 votes for the All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate, Senator Solomon Olamilekan Adeola (Yayi), in the 2027 Ogun State governorship election.

The Convener of the movement, Armstrong 'Tope Akintunde, made the declaration on Saturday during a strategic meeting of YPM held in Iperu, Ikenne Local Government Area of Ogun State. He said the movement had intensified its grassroots mobilisation efforts and remained committed to strengthening support for the APC ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Akintunde disclosed that YPM would further expand its youth and students' solidarity programme before the end of the month as part of its strategy to deepen grassroots participation and consolidate support for Senator Adeola across the state.

According to him, the movement has continued to record significant growth in membership and influence, attracting supporters from various communities and political groups across Ogun State. He commended members of the State Working Committee, apex leaders, local government coordinators and youth leaders for their dedication to the movement's objectives.

He also revealed that the movement had successfully facilitated the registration of more than 12,000 new voters through its ongoing Permanent Voter Card (PVC) registration and voter mobilisation campaign.

"We are targeting no fewer than 60,000 votes for Senator Solomon Adeola in the 2027 governorship election. Our focus is on expanding our grassroots network, empowering our members, mobilising eligible voters and ensuring widespread participation in the democratic process," Akintunde said.

He added that YPM had grown to over 44,000 registered members across the state, with membership increasing daily through its local government structures.

Akintunde described the organisation as one of the emerging grassroots political mobilisation platforms in Ogun State, driven by youth inclusion, voter education, membership expansion and active participation in the democratic process.

Also speaking, the State Coordinator of YPM, Hon. Olusegun Kaka, said the movement had evolved from the merger of several political support groups into a formidable grassroots organisation committed to promoting unity, grassroots empowerment and inclusive leadership.

He attributed the movement's steady growth to the leadership of the convener and the commitment of members across the state.

Kaka reaffirmed YPM's resolve to consolidate support for Senator Solomon Adeola and all candidates of the All Progressives Congress in Ogun State ahead of the 2027 elections.

Former two-term member of the House of Representatives and one of the movement's apex leaders, Hon. Kehinde Odeneye, also urged members to remain united and committed to the ideals of the organisation. He commended the leadership of the movement for sustaining its growth and encouraged members to continue working collectively towards achieving its political objectives.

The meeting also witnessed the defection of three political groups into the Yayi Progressives Movement. The groups include Women in Politics from Ado-Odo/Ota Local Government Area, Idege Group from Ogun East Senatorial District and Alhaji Mutty Group, also from Ogun East Senatorial District.

The new groups, alongside hundreds of their supporters, were formally received into the movement, while local government coordinators were directed to commence their integration and documentation.

At the end of the meeting, YPM leaders and coordinators reaffirmed their commitment to expanding the movement's presence across all 20 local government areas of Ogun State and intensifying voter mobilisation as part of efforts to secure victory for the APC in the 2027 general elections.
