Akintunde Praises Gov. Abiodun, APC Over Choice of Kudirat Balogun as Adeola’s Running Mate

The Convener of the Yayi Progressives Movement (YPM), Armstrong 'Tope Akintunde, has commended Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun, the All Progressives Congress (APC), and the party's governorship candidate for the 2027 election, Senator Solomon Olamilekan Adeola (Yayi), for selecting Mrs. Kudirat Abiodun Balogun as the deputy governorship candidate of the party.
Akintunde described the choice of Mrs. Balogun as a strategic and commendable decision that reflects the APC's commitment to competence, inclusiveness, and equitable representation across Ogun State.
Mrs. Balogun, a respected corporate executive, finance professional, and business leader, is widely recognized for her extensive experience in finance, corporate governance, manufacturing, business transformation, and strategic leadership.
In a statement issued on Monday in Abeokuta by the State Media Director of the movement, Oluseun Joshua, and signed by Akintunde, the YPM Convener said the decision demonstrates political foresight and a clear understanding of the diverse interests and aspirations of the people of Ogun State.
According to him, the emergence of Mrs. Balogun, daughter of renowned industrialist, philanthropist, Chairman of Rite Foods Limited, and Asiwaju of Ijebuland, Alhaji Sulaiman Adegunwa, further underscores the party's determination to foster unity and ensure broad-based representation across the state's geopolitical zones.
Akintunde noted that with Senator Adeola emerging from Ogun West Senatorial District and Mrs. Balogun representing Ijebuland, the APC has reinforced its commitment to a fair and balanced political arrangement capable of strengthening governance and deepening inclusiveness.
"I congratulate our respected leaders and principals, Prince Dapo Abiodun, CON, Senator Solomon Adeola, and our great party for putting the right peg in the right hole. This is indeed a balanced and strategic arrangement that positions the APC strongly ahead of the 2027 governorship election in Ogun State," he said.
He further noted that the immense contributions of Alhaji Sulaiman Adegunwa to economic growth and human development through his entrepreneurial ventures have positively impacted countless lives across Nigeria.
"We all know the immense contributions of our father and icon of Ijebuland, Alhaji Sulaiman Adegunwa, whose entrepreneurial legacy through Rite Foods has created opportunities and transformed lives. Having his daughter as the deputy governorship candidate reflects the party's recognition of competence, service, and broad-based representation," Akintunde added.
the YPM Convener Expressing confidence in the party's electoral prospects, said the APC remains united and focused on delivering good governance, adding that the emergence of Mrs. Balogun as Senator Adeola's running mate would further strengthen the party's chances in the 2027 general election.
The State Coordinator of the movement, Hon. Olusegun Kaka, while speaking, praised the leadership of the APC for its sustained efforts in strengthening the party's structure and positioning it for future electoral success.
Kaka expressed optimism that the APC would secure overwhelming victories in the 2027 general elections, citing its strong grassroots network, credible leadership, and growing support base across Ogun State.
He maintained that the APC remains the dominant political force in the state and expressed confidence that the party's candidates would emerge victorious at all levels.
The Yayi Progressives Movement reaffirmed its commitment to grassroots mobilization, political education, and the promotion of progressive leadership across Ogun State.
The movement also pledged continued support for policies and leaders capable of driving sustainable development, economic growth, and inclusive governance for the benefit of all residents of the state.
