Ogun East NUJ Hails Akinwale, Senator Adeola(Yayi), Over 18-Seater Bus Presentation

...Seeks More Support for Ogun Journalists

The Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Ogun-East Independent Chapel, has commended the Ogun State Council Chairman, Comrade Akinwale Olanrewaju, and Senator Solomon Olamilekan Adeola, popularly known as Yayi, following the presentation of a brand-new 18-seater Toyota HiAce bus to the Ogun State Council of the Union.

The Chapel described the presentation as a significant milestone for the Ogun NUJ, noting that the development would strengthen the operational capacity of the Union and enhance the mobility of journalists across the state.

In a statement signed by the Chapel’s Chairman, Comrade Oluseun Oduneye, and Secretary, Comrade Funmilayo Suleodu, the Ogun-East Independent Chapel congratulated Comrade Akinwale Olanrewaju for his leadership and efforts in articulating the needs of journalists and the institutional requirements of the Union.

According to the Chapel, the acquisition of the bus goes beyond providing a means of transportation, as it would support the Union’s official movements, programmes and activities while making it easier for journalists to discharge their professional responsibilities across Ogun State.

From Commitment to Delivery

The Chapel recalled that the presentation of the bus followed Senator Adeola’s earlier engagement with members of the NUJ at the Iwe Iroyin Press Centre, Abeokuta.

During the engagement, Senator Adeola presented his proposed development agenda before journalists and pledged continued support for the NUJ. He also challenged journalists to hold him accountable for commitments made before them.

The Senator had urged the media to document promises made by public officials and return to ask questions about their implementation.

The subsequent presentation of the bus, the Chapel noted, has provided practical expression to one of the commitments made during that engagement.

The Ogun-East Independent Chapel therefore acknowledged Senator Adeola for responding to an identified need of the Union and fulfilling the commitment made to the NUJ.

A Boost for Ogun Journalism

The Chapel noted that a functional bus would be valuable to the NUJ in facilitating official assignments, programmes, movements and other activities that require transportation.

It also expressed the hope that the new vehicle would be effectively maintained and deployed for the benefit of the Union and its members.

The Chapel further commended the Ogun NUJ leadership for maintaining constructive engagement with individuals, institutions and other stakeholders whose interventions can contribute to the growth and effectiveness of journalism in the state.

Call for More Support

While celebrating the new bus, the Ogun-East Independent Chapel stressed that more still needs to be done to strengthen the professional and institutional capacity of journalists in Ogun State.

It therefore called for continued support and interventions that would promote the welfare, professional development and working environment of journalists across the state.

The Chapel also reaffirmed its commitment to supporting the leadership of the Ogun State Council in initiatives aimed at strengthening the Union and improving the conditions under which journalists carry out their responsibilities.

The Ogun-East Independent Chapel congratulated Comrade Akinwale Olanrewaju and the entire Ogun NUJ family on the acquisition of the new 18-seater Toyota HiAce bus, while appreciating Senator Adeola for the gesture.

It expressed confidence that the new vehicle would be put to effective use in advancing the activities of the NUJ and supporting journalists in the discharge of their professional duties across Ogun State.
