Adegbite Royal Family Organises Year-End Reception in Honour of Hon. Ayoola Elegbeji

The Adegbite Royal Family of Sagamu has organised a successful year-end reception in honour of their illustrious daughter, Hon. (Dr.) Princess Adesola Ayoola Elegbeji, who represents Ikenne/Sagamu/Remo North Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives.

The memorable ceremony, held at the residence of the late Olori Ebi (Family Head), Alhaji Sikirullahi Adekunle Adegbite, in Sagamu, was attended by many sons and daughters of the Adegbite family, including those living in the diaspora.

Hon. Adesola Elegbeji, who had earlier attended the Jumat service at Sagamu Central Mosque to identify with the Muslim community in Remoland, arrived at the venue in the company of her siblings. She was received by the new Olori Ebi of the Adegbite Royal Family, Elder Johnson Kunle Adegbite, alongside other leaders of the family.

The opening prayer was led by the Chairman of the Sagamu Development Association (SDA), Hon. Taoreed Adeyiga Awoyemi, an elder of the Adegbite family, whose mother shared the same Adegbite paternity with the grandmother of Hon. Ayoola-Elegbeji

While conducting the introductions, the Family Secretary announced to the younger members of the family—especially those who travelled from Europe and other parts of Nigeria to Sagamu—that the father of Hon. Ayoola-Elegbeji’s grandmother was the first-born son of Adegbite, the progenitor of the family.

The current Olori Ebi, Elder Johnson Kunle Adegbite, a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria (FCA), delivered a welcome address in which he admonished the federal lawmaker to continue to uphold the Omoluwabi credo of integrity, industry, good character, and other virtues for which the Adegbite family is known.

Elder Adegbite also urged her to maintain cordial relationships with all stakeholders in the Remo Federal Constituency, including political leaders and other interest groups, and to continue striving towards the fulfilment of the electoral promises she made during her electioneering campaigns.

He acknowledged that one and a half years is not sufficient to fully realise such promises, noting that the constitutional tenure for state and federal elective offices is four years. He therefore prayed that God would grant her victory in subsequent elections so she could secure a full term and fulfil all the promises she made to the electorate.

In her response, Hon. Ayoola-Elegbeji narrated some of the challenges she faced in politics after returning from the United Kingdom to contest an elective office, including the pessimistic comments and doubts expressed by some people. She noted that her eventual victory was a clear manifestation of divine intervention in her life.

According to her, she is even more committed to serving the people because she believes that service is the reason God spared her life. She affirmed that she would continue to serve and help as many people as God grants her the capacity to assist.

She acknowledged that she grew up knowing that her mother was from the Adegbite family of Sagamu and expressed pride in being associated with a family known for its noble heritage. She added that while living in the United Kingdom, she maintained a close relationship with her London-based cousin, Mr. Tokunbo Adegbite.

Mr. Tokunbo Adegbite—who briefly returned home to serve as Chairman of Ebiripo Night during Sagamu Day 2016—was also in attendance at the reception, alongside his siblings. The occasion provided an opportunity for a warm reunion between him and his cousin, Hon. Dr. Ayoola-Elegbeji.

The family later presented her with a special gift in recognition of her outstanding achievements in life and politics, as well as to spur her on to even greater accomplishments. It was a memorable gathering—one that attendees will not forget in a hurry.

Princess Adesola Ayoola Elegbeji is a geologist by training and an accomplished technocrat-cum-businesswoman, born into a family with a strong tradition of leadership and public service. Her roots are deeply embedded in the soil of Remoland. Her paternal grandfather was the late Negbuwa of Ibido, while her maternal grandmother hailed from royal roots in Simawa-Makun. Her maternal grandmother, was the daughter of Adegbite’s first son from Itunla, Offin, Sagamu.

Her father, Prince David Adekunle Ayoola—a former Vice Chairman of Sagamu Local Government and Supervisory Councillor for Works—and her mother, Chief Mrs. Victoria Modupe Ayoola, a pioneer staff member of NNPC, Mosimi, Sagamu, instilled in her the values of hard work, dedication, and service to humanity.

Hon. Princess Ayoola Elegbeji’s academic credentials are impressive. She holds a first degree in Geology from Olabisi Onabanjo University, Ago-Iwoye, and two master’s degrees from the University of London and South Bank University, London.

Her expertise in business transformation, operational excellence, change management, technology integration, and strategic planning has been honed over more than 25 years of experience in community organisation, business performance, and organisational growth.

Since her election into the House of Representatives in August and her swearing-in in October 2025, she has been working tirelessly—discharging her legislative duties at the National Assembly in Abuja while regularly returning home to impact the lives of her constituents and maintain strong connections with her party members and leaders.
