Oke Ariko Set for Historic Moment as Oba Ifagbemi Receives Staff of Office

For the people of Oke Ariko Community in Sagamu Local Government Area of Ogun State, today is more than just another day. It is a day they have looked forward to—a moment when tradition, identity and community pride will come together as their first traditional ruler formally receives the Staff of Office.
From the early hours, the atmosphere in the growing community is expected to take on a festive character, with sons, daughters, residents and well-wishers making their way home to witness what promises to be a historic occasion.
At the centre of the celebration is the newly crowned Oloke of Oke Ariko, Oba Olayinka Oladunni Ifagbemi, Gbadewolu Orukatan I, whose formal installation will be marked by the presentation of the Staff of Office by the Ogun State Government, under the leadership of Governor Dapo Abiodun.
For many residents, the occasion represents more than the presentation of an official symbol of authority. It is a defining moment in the story of a community that is steadily growing and seeking to preserve its traditional identity while looking towards the future.

Oba Ifagbemi's journey to the throne began formally on Thursday, February 12, 2026, when he was crowned the Oloke of Oke Ariko by the Akarigbo and Paramount Ruler of Remoland, HRM Oba (Dr.) Babatunde Adewale Ajayi, at the Akarigbo's Palace in Ita-Oba, Sagamu.
Today, that traditional milestone takes another significant step as the state government officially presents him with the Staff of Office and other paraphernalia of office.
The ceremony is scheduled to commence at 10:00 a.m., and anticipation has been building across the community.
The announcement has sparked excitement among residents and natives, many of whom are expected to rally around their monarch in a show of unity, loyalty and communal pride.
For the ancestral families of Oke Ariko, the occasion is also an opportunity to reconnect with their roots and celebrate the institution of traditional leadership that remains an important part of their collective heritage.
