NUJ National President Leads Tribute as Ogun Council Honours Onasanya, Kassim in Style.

The Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Ogun State Council, on Wednesday rolled out the drums to celebrate two distinguished veterans of the journalism profession, Mr. Kehinde Onasanya; who just retired as the Ogun State Head of Service, and the former General Manager of Ogun State Television (OGTV), Mr. Tunde Kassim, in recognition of their outstanding contributions to journalism and public service.

The colourful event, described as historic in the annals of the Union, drew eminent personalities from within and outside Ogun State, including the National President of the NUJ, Comrade Alhassan Yahya, who travelled from Abuja to personally honour the retirees.

According to a release issued by the Ogun NUJ State Secretary, Bunmi Adigun, the ceremony was organised under the leadership of the Ogun NUJ Chairman, Comrade Wale Olanrewaju, as part of efforts to celebrate excellence, integrity and selfless service within the journalism profession.

One of the highpoints of the event was the formal decoration of Mr. Kehinde Onasanya as a Fellow of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (FNUJ), in recognition of his remarkable contributions to journalism and his trailblazing role as the first journalist to become Head of Service in Ogun State.

The statement noted that the event witnessed a large turnout of dignitaries, including members of the Body of Permanent Secretaries, labour leaders, General Managers and Directors of media organisations, members of the League of Veterans, executives of the Ogun NUJ State Executive Council, as well as leaders and members of the Union from Lagos and Oyo States.

The Ogun NUJ also appreciated its Patroness, Chief Mrs. Mojisola Oni Quadri, Gbegbaaje of Egbaland and Chief Executive Officer of ONI Electronics, for her support towards the successful hosting of the ceremony and for extending gestures of goodwill to the honourees.

Adigun stated that beyond celebrating retirement, the gathering served as a tribute to dedication, professionalism, integrity and impactful service to humanity, noting that the legacies of the two media veterans would continue to inspire younger generations of journalists across Ogun State and beyond.

He added that the event further underscored the commitment of the Ogun NUJ to recognising and honouring media professionals who have made significant sacrifices and contributions to the growth of journalism and society.
