As Muslim faithful across Nigeria celebrate the 2026 Eid-el-Kabir festival, the Convener of the Yayi Progressives Movement, Armstrong ‘Tope Akintunde, has used the occasion not only to felicitate with worshippers but also to reinforce the values of leadership, sacrifice, unity and collective responsibility needed for sustainable development.

In a goodwill message made available to journalists, Akintunde described Eid-el-Kabir as more than a religious celebration, noting that its deeper lessons of sacrifice, commitment and service remain relevant to leadership and nation-building.

According to him, the season presents an opportunity for individuals, communities and political actors to reflect on the kind of future they desire and the leadership needed to achieve it.

While congratulating Muslims across Ogun State and beyond, Akintunde called for prayers and support for the governorship ambition of Senator Solomon Olamilekan Adeola, popularly known as Yayi, ahead of the 2027 gubernatorial election.

He expressed confidence that the leadership qualities, experience and vision associated with Senator Adeola would contribute significantly to the continued growth and transformation of Ogun State.

“This is another joyous moment for us to witness the celebration of Eid-el-Kabir. May the blessings and happiness of this season fill our homes, communities and the nation at large,” he stated.

Akintunde further stressed that leadership thrives where there is unity, shared purpose and collective action, urging supporters of the movement to remain committed to building stronger communities and promoting inclusive participation.

“I want to specially appeal to our Muslim brothers and sisters to continue to support and pray for the success of Senator Solomon Olamilekan Adeola ahead of the 2027 governorship election in Ogun State.

" His vision and leadership qualities remain important to the continued development and growth of our dear state,” he added.

Speaking on the philosophy driving the movement, Akintunde noted that political success is often built through grassroots engagement, consistent communication and empowering ordinary citizens to participate actively in governance.

He reaffirmed the commitment of the Yayi Progressives Movement to youth empowerment, community mobilisation and strengthening democratic participation, insisting that sustainable leadership requires structures that reflect the aspirations of the people.

“This celebration should remind us that we are one family and one progressive movement. Our collective strength, unity and dedication will continue to move us forward as we work together for a better Ogun State,” he said.

Over time, the Yayi Progressives Movement has continued to expand its grassroots presence through community engagement initiatives and political mobilisation efforts, positioning itself as a growing force ahead of the 2027 electoral cycle.

For Akintunde, however, the message of Eid goes beyond politics — it is about inspiring people to embrace service, sacrifice and visionary leadership as tools for societal transformation.
