27 Buses, 30,000 Members: Omoluabi Movement Begins Mobilisation for Tinubu, Abiodun, Adeola for Ogun 2027

The Omoluabi Movement, a fast-growing grassroots political group in Ogun State, has commenced a statewide mobilisation drive in support of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Governor Dapo Abiodun, and Senator Solomon Olamilekan Adeola ahead of the 2027 general elections.

The movement disclosed that it has already begun activating its structures across the state’s three senatorial districts, with plans to galvanize its more than 30,000 members to support candidates of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the forthcoming polls.

In a statement released to journalists in Abeokuta on Wednesday, the State Director of Media and Publicity of the movement, Oluseun Joshua, said the mobilisation exercise marks the beginning of a coordinated grassroots engagement strategy aimed at strengthening the political base of the APC in Ogun State.

According to the statement, which was signed by the Convener of the movement, Armstrong ‘Tope Akintunde, the initiative is designed to deepen political participation among members while building strong community networks capable of delivering electoral victories for the party in 2027.

As part of the mobilisation effort, the movement has deployed 27 newly unveiled buses to facilitate outreach activities and coordination across various communities in the state.

Akintunde explained that the buses would enable members to effectively reach grassroots communities, enhance organisational efficiency, and strengthen the movement’s presence throughout Ogun State.

“We began our mobilisation exercise a few days ago across Ogun State, deploying 27 buses to various communities. This effort is primarily focused on rallying support for the re-election of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and other APC candidates in the state,” he said.

The group also revealed that plans are underway to empower more than 30,000 registered members as part of its broader strategy to promote inclusive participation and strengthen grassroots political engagement.

Akintunde clarified that the Omoluabi Movement operating in Ogun State has no affiliation with any similarly named political group linked to former Osun State Governor, Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola.

“Our Omoluabi Movement is different and has no connection with what the former Governor of Osun State, Ogbeni Aregbesola, is associated with, as speculated by some individuals. The name ‘Omoluabi’ is a common Yoruba concept and is not tied to any political figure. Our focus remains mobilising support for APC candidates in Ogun State, with plans for future expansion,” he stated.

He further noted that the adoption of the name “Omoluabi” reflects the movement’s commitment to values such as integrity, accountability, service, and respect for democratic principles.

Our Omoluabi Movement is different and has no connection with what the former Governor of Osun State, Ogbeni Aregbesola, is associated with, as speculated by some individuals. 

According to him, the concept was inspired by remarks made by the Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi, during a visit by leaders of the movement for the unveiling and royal blessing of the buses.

Akintunde added that the movement is determined to nurture a political culture built on the Omoluabi ethos, which emphasises responsible leadership and civic responsibility.

He explained that the group’s long-term objective is to build strong grassroots political structures capable of supporting President Tinubu’s re-election bid, Governor Abiodun’s senatorial ambition, and the emergence of Senator Solomon Adeola as the next governor of Ogun State in 2027, alongside other APC candidates contesting seats in the National and State Assemblies.

The statement emphasised that the movement remains committed to promoting participatory democracy, good governance, and sustained engagement between political leaders and the grassroots.

According to the group, its activities are also aimed at bridging the gap between leadership and citizens through political awareness, civic responsibility, and development initiatives that align with the aspirations of the people of Ogun State.
