The Agunsebi area of Ijebu-Ode came alive on Saturday as dignitaries, traditional rulers, and members of the Fusengbuwa Ruling House gathered to celebrate a landmark moment—the reopening of the newly renovated Ule Obanlefa Administrative Centre, Library, and Archive.

Once the historic residence of the late Prince Oduwole Obanlefa, grandfather of former Olori-Ebi, Prince Adebisi Adeyemi (popularly known as Obanlefa), the building has now been transformed into a modern cultural hub dedicated to preserving the history and heritage of the illustrious Fusengbuwa dynasty.

The renovation, fully funded by his first grandson, Barrister Prince Olawale Oriola Adeyemi, represents a deeply personal tribute to his grandfather’s decades of service. Prince Adebisi Adeyemi served as Olori-Ebi from 1988 to 2013, a period that shaped the family’s collective identity and strengthened its internal unity.

According to Prince Oriola, revitalizing the building goes beyond mere structural renewal—it is an intentional effort to preserve ancestral memory.

He explained that the restored centre now functions as a resource facility, a family administrative base, and a historical archive.

“We rebuilt it as a resource centre, an office space, and a library where the family can preserve its records and hold important meetings. My investment in this building stems from my commitment to contribute meaningfully to Ijebuland. By God’s grace, His will shall be done.”

Prince Oriola described the project as a bridge between the rich legacy of the past and the aspirations of a progressive future. He also acknowledged the contributions of past leaders, including the late Awujale, his grandfather, and other prominent members such as the late Subomi Balogun.

“I felt a strong conviction to use the resources God has blessed me with to honour the legacy of my grandfather and the lessons he instilled in me.” he explained.

Reflecting on his personal journey, the U.S.-based international corporate lawyer recounted his upbringing in Ijebu-Ode and how his formative years at Ijebu-Ode Grammar School shaped his values.

According to him, he grew up like everyone else here. "I lived in this city. I took a bike to school like every other student. Today, God has blessed me with global experience, and I believe it is my responsibility to use that privilege to uplift my people," he added.

He emphasized the unity of the Fusengbuwa Ruling House, noting that “everyone from Ile Nla Agunsebi is my brother and sister,” and reaffirmed his commitment to supporting the cultural and historical values of the family.

The ceremony also witnessed strong commendations from traditional leaders. His Royal Highness Oba Mufau Kasali, the Moyegeso of Itele, praised Prince Oriola for restoring a vital symbol of family heritage and pledged continued support for the ruling house.

Otunba Adedokun Ajidagba, the current Olori-Ebi, described the late Prince Adebisi Adeyemi as “a father figure who demonstrated exemplary leadership” throughout his 25-year tenure. He prayed for enduring unity and progress within the Obanlefa and Olufadi families.

The event brought together elders and notable members of the ruling house, including: Alhaji Mutiu Adenuga, Alhaja Olohunosun, Prince Adeleke Adeyemi, Princess Temilade Remi-Adeoye, and other distinguished guests. The day concluded with traditional music and cultural performances, symbolizing renewal, pride, and the enduring strength of heritage.
