Gbenga Daniel Empowers Constituents, Rekindles Ijebu-Remo State Dream

The Senator representing Ogun-East, Otunba Gbenga Daniel, at the weekend empowered residents of Ijebu North-East Local Government with livelihood tools while renewing his call for the creation of Ijebu-Remo State.

The event, held at Equity Hotel and Suites, Ijebu-Ode, under the BATOGD Initiative Movement, saw beneficiaries receive generators, motorcycles, sewing machines, and other equipment aimed at boosting enterprise and household income.

Traditional rulers, including Oba Odusanya Oduneye, the Olu of Odosenlu Alaro, and several royal fathers from across Ijebu North-East, joined party leaders and supporters to witness the occasion.

Senator Daniel said the empowerment drive was part of his ongoing effort to keep governance people-focused. “We must continue to tour our local governments, assess progress, and identify what is next for our people,” he said, stressing that over a thousand constituents have benefitted from previous programmes.

Turning to the issue of state creation, the former Ogun State governor reaffirmed his commitment to the Ijebu-Remo State project, describing it as long overdue. “Ijebu remains one of the old provinces yet to gain statehood. Ijebu-Remo State is a must; with unity, we will achieve it,” he declared.

The senator also urged cooperation from the Ogun State Government, warning that petty politics must not be allowed to short-change the people of the district.
