Hope Rises as Ogun Artisans Team Up With Yayi Progressives Movement for 2027

A renewed sense of optimism is sweeping across Ogun State as artisans from various trades and associations align with the Yayi Progressives Movement, signaling a deepening of grassroots political engagement ahead of the 2027 general elections.

The atmosphere was charged with enthusiasm on Thursday in Abeokuta, where leaders and stakeholders of the artisans’ community gathered to formalize their collaboration with the fast-growing political movement.

The delegation, led by the Chairman of the Board of Trustees, Hon. Kehinde Odeneye, alongside the State President and other top executives, represented a broad spectrum of skilled professionals from across the state.

Also present at the meeting were Comrade Ayodele Anthony, members of the League of Presidents, divisional coordinators, State Executive Council members, and local government leaders of the artisans’ association—highlighting the scale and significance of the alliance.

Welcoming the group, the State Coordinator of the Yayi Progressives Movement, Hon. Olusegun Kaka, described the development as a strong indication that the movement’s message is resonating with people at the grassroots. He emphasized that the platform remains open and inclusive, encouraging individuals and groups committed to progressive political development to come on board.

According to Kaka, the meeting marked more than a symbolic partnership, as both parties agreed to work closely in mobilising widespread support for Senator Adeola’s governorship ambition in 2027.

He noted that the collaboration would play a crucial role in strengthening grassroots structures across communities in Ogun State.

Adding his voice, the Convener of the movement, Armstrong ‘Tope Akintunde, expressed confidence that the inclusion of artisans would significantly boost the movement’s reach and effectiveness. He warmly welcomed the new members, describing their entry as a major step toward building a formidable grassroots network.

Akintunde revealed that the movement, which already boasts over 30,000 members, is on track to triple its strength, projecting a support base of nearly 100,000 ahead of the elections.

He reiterated that the group’s primary focus remains mobilising support for candidates of the All Progressives Congress (APC) across all levels—from the presidency to the state assembly.

He also commended coordinators and members working tirelessly behind the scenes, noting that sustained grassroots engagement continues to yield tangible results.

As political activities gradually intensify in the lead-up to 2027, the alliance between artisans and the Yayi Progressives Movement reflects a broader shift toward inclusive participation.

With skilled workers, youths, and professionals increasingly taking active roles, the movement is positioning itself as a people-driven force committed to unity, development, and a shared vision for Ogun State’s future.
