In a country where leadership milestones are hard-earned and deeply symbolic, Dr. Oluwatoyin Sakirat Madein stands tall as a woman who broke barriers and redefined possibilities.

In 2023, she etched her name in Nigeria’s history books as the first female Accountant General of the Federation (AGF)—a feat that crowned over three decades of distinguished service in the nation’s civil service.

Dr. Madein’s journey is one of discipline, resilience, and unwavering commitment to excellence. Before her retirement in March 2025, upon attaining the statutory age of 60, she had built an impressive career across key government ministries.

From serving as an Internal Auditor to rising through roles as a Financial Manager and Accountant, she contributed her expertise to critical sectors including the Ministry of Police Affairs, Ministry of Commerce and Industry, and the Ministry of Youth and Sports Development.

Beyond her professional accomplishments, Dr. Madein is also a woman of compassion and social impact. As the Founder and President of the Olowo Oloye Foundation, she continues to extend her influence beyond public service, touching lives and uplifting communities.

Her rise to the pinnacle of Nigeria’s financial administration was not accidental but the result of intentional growth and continuous learning. She holds a Higher National Diploma (HND) in Accountancy from Moshood Abiola Polytechnic, Abeokuta, an MBA from Olabisi Onabanjo University, Ago-Iwoye, and a Ph.D. in Management Finance from Walden University, USA.

A proud indigene of Iperu Remo, Dr. Madein is also a Fellow of prestigious professional bodies, including the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA), UK, and the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria (ICAN), among others.

Dr. Shakirat Madein’s story is more than a career profile—it is a powerful narrative of breaking ceilings, building legacy, and inspiring a new generation of women to lead with competence and courage.

In every sense, she embodies what it means to be a true “Woman of Impact.”
