“Not for Sale, Not for Outsiders”: Ajidagba Insists Awujale Crown Reserved for Genuine Fusengbuwa Descendants
…as over 200 princes and princesses reaffirm unity at Ile-Nla.

The Olori-Ebi (head) of the Fusengbuwa Ruling House in Ijebu-Ode, Otunba Adedokun Ajidagba, has declared that the Awujale crown of Ijebuland is neither for sale nor for outsiders, stressing that only genuine and legitimate descendants of the Fusengbuwa lineage will be considered for the revered throne.
Ajidagba made the declaration on Sunday during a grand family gathering of more than 200 princes and princesses of the Fusengbuwa Ruling House held at Ile Nla Quarters, Agusenbi, Ijebu-Ode, Ogun State.
He reaffirmed that the Awujale stool remains a sacred heritage, not to be commercialized or politicized, adding that the Fusengbuwa family stands united in upholding the sanctity of the royal institution.
The Awujale crown is not meant for outsiders or for sale. It is reserved strictly for genuine members of the Fusengbuwa family.
“We are here today to welcome our new members — those who have seen the light and returned home to Ile-Nla — including Otunba Deji Osibogun, Engr. Kayode Shote, and others,” Ajidagba said.
“The Awujale crown is not meant for outsiders or for sale. It is reserved strictly for genuine members of the Fusengbuwa family.”
Family Reunites, Heritage Strengthened
Ajidagba disclosed that over 35 aspirants from within the ruling house have been screened as potential candidates for the throne, assuring that the Ijebu kingsmakers will act in accordance with established customs when the time comes.

He dismissed claims of any rival factions within the family, noting that the Fusengbuwa Ruling House enjoys formal recognition and legitimacy.

“I am a fifth-generation descendant from the Ile-Nla quarters. This is not a group of outsiders, but a royal house built on genuine lineage.”
Hope and Unity Among Princes
Speaking with journalists, one of the aspirants, Prince Shakiru Bello, described the renewed cooperation within the family as a sign of enduring unity and maturity.
“The understanding and harmony between the groups have strengthened our bond. We are confident that the best and most deserving candidate will emerge as the next Awujale of Ijebuland,” Bello said.
Another aspirant, Prince Senni Ottun, hailed the gathering as a symbol of royal rebirth, noting that the large turnout reflected the family’s commitment to one purpose.
“The Fusengbuwa Ruling House at Ile-Nla is growing stronger every day. The unity we’re witnessing here today shows that our family is on the right path toward a brighter and more promising future,” Ottun remarked.
A Royal Legacy Preserved
The Fusengbuwa Ruling House, one of the recognized royal lineages in Ijebuland, traces its ancestry to Oba Fusengbuwa, an early Awujale renowned for wisdom, justice, and devotion to the Ijebu people.
Sunday’s event, according to participants, was not merely a reunion but a renewed declaration of unity, heritage, and legitimacy, as the family positions itself for the succession process to the Awujale throne.
“Our ancestors built this house on truth and honor. And by God’s grace, that legacy will never be compromised” Ajidagba concluded.
