NUJ Orders Blacklisting of NANS Over Alleged Assault on Journalist

NUJ Orders Blacklisting of NANS Over Alleged Assault on Journalist.

    Olajide Osoba: The assaulted journalist.

The Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) Ogun State Council has directed a temporary blacklist on coverage of activities by the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) following an alleged assault on a journalist.

The incident occurred on Thursday at the June 12 Cultural Center, Kuto, during the 2025 May Day celebration. Journalist Olajide Osoba, a member of the NUJ, was reportedly assaulted by supposed students and members of NANS Ogun State.

The NUJ condemned the attack and demanded immediate accountability for those responsible. The union's leadership emphasized the paramount importance of journalist safety and vowed to protect its members' interests.

The blacklist will remain in effect until a thorough investigation is conducted. The NUJ has urged NANS to cooperate in the investigation and ensure that similar incidents do not recur.

This development reflects the NUJ's commitment to maintaining a safe environment for media practitioners in Ogun State and Nigeria. Further updates will be provided as the investigation unfolds.
