The internal crisis rocking the Ogun State House of Assembly got to the pick on Tuesday as the lawmakers impeached their Speaker, Rt. Hon. Olakunle Taiwo Oluomo and replaced him with Hon. Daisi Olusegun Elemide.

Hon. Elemide, who is representing Odeda constituency, has been in the assembly since 2015, serving a third term tenure, while the impeached  Oluomo, is a prince representing Ifo state constituency since 2011.

Prince Oluomo, who has been the Speaker of the state assembly since June 2019, was impeached for allegations of gross misconduct, highhandedness, lack of focus and transparency, arrogance and poor leadership style, financial mismanagement and inciting of fellow lawmakers against one another.

The impeached speaker who had been a deputy speaker of the Assembly in his second term between 2015 and 2019, was removed by 18 out of the 25 lawmakers, excluding him, via a motion moved by Hon. Adegoke Adeyanju (APC-Yewa North 1).

The motion was seconded by Hon. Ademola Adeniran (APC-Sagamu11)  Tuesday, during the plenary presided over by the Deputy Speaker, Hon. (Mrs) Bolanle Ajayi (APC-Yewa South), while the embattled speaker was unavailable.
