Akeredolu left a vacuum that can’t be readily filled, says Fayose

Former governor of Ekiti State, Mr Ayodele Fayose has described the death of Ondo State Governor, Mr Rotimi Akeredolu as a great loss whose vacuum can not be readily filled.
While responding to the death of the prominent politician and iconic lawyer, Mr Fayose, wrote in his short message to Successful People Magazine:
"Akeredolu left a vacuum that can’t be readily filled. He was upright and stands for Justice.
"Pillar of the Yoruba Nation and outstanding Nigerian. We will miss him but his good works remain consoling."
Mr Akeredolu died at 67 in the early hours of Wednesday, 27 December, after battling with Leukemia and prostate cancer, which saw him transmitting power to his deputy twice.
He left the government house for medical treatment abroad in June this year and returned in September; only to stay in Ibadan, the Oyo State capital, while his deputy, Mr Lucky Ayedatiwa was acting as governor of the Sunshine State.
The protracted illness saw him returning to Germany in early December for further medical treatment, where he was until he kicked the bucket.
Apart from being a former governor, Fayose shared some qualities in common with Akeredolu; in terms of fearlessness, courage to say the truth without minding whose ox is being gored and fighting for any course they believe in to a logical conclusion.
Akeredolu, fondly nicknamed Aketi, was a Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN), former President of Nigeria Bar Association, NBA, and former Chairman of Governors Forum in the South West.
Moreso, as Mr Fayose described him, Akeredolu "...was upright and stands for Justice."
