SPM: Looking at the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic on education sector, the lockdown of schools, what do you have to telł the stakeholders, especially parents and students, in view of the prevailing challenges?

Odemuyiwa: Well, I want to say this at COVID-19 is a blessing, in a way, in disguise. Because It has brought about internationalization of education. It has actually helped every Nigerian to see the essence of technology.
Many are now aware that we are in the Age of ICT. It has enabled every Nigerian to know that one has to be technologically compliant.

Now looking at Ogun State for instance, before the advent of COVID-19 the Ogun State Government believed in technologically driven education. And it has been preparing for a kind of digital classes across all sector of education in Ogun State.

So, immediately the COVID-19 pandemic started and the lockdown began, we swung into action to start with the OgunDigitClass. I'm sure all over Nigeria, we are the first to go online in that respect; teaching via the television, and even radio and online, through the LMS, that is Learning Management System,  from basic all through to secondary.

Our higher institutions too are exploring digital avenues for teaching and learning process. All these are moves to digitalise education in Ogun State.
