This red-letter day,  February 20, was a day the celebrant, Alhaji Adegbite, a retired Chief Technical Officer of Federal Housing Authority, FHA, Lagos, and most of the attendees, won't forget in a hurry, because it was the day he joined the Nonagenarians Club.

The birthday party started with Islamic prayers held in the morning from 10am, with the Chief Imam of Remo and other Islamic clerics in attendance.

This was followed with snapping of photographs with the celebrant. The dress code which was shades of blue, make the whole place glamorous, as a lot of people wore white attires, with shades of blue.

His children, and their spouses, posed for group photographs with him. Family members, in-laws, a couple of his friends and associates also joined in making the event memorable for themselves, with the posing for photographs with him. He thereafter left the hall in preparations for the party reception.

He quickly did that by chronicling the abridged version of his bio-data from his birth and early life, family background, through his early life, academic adventure, career, marriage and all others till his old age. This he did offhand; even as he presented it in English and Yoruba Languages simultaneously.

People were then called upon to testify what they know about the celebrant, Alhaji Adekunle Sikirullahi Oladele Adegbite. And it was a period of accolades galore. Testifiers who caught across family members, in-laws, tenants, alumni association, e.t.c, spoke extensively on his mannerism, lifestyle, life principle, among others.

An in-law from his wife's family spoke about how good he has been to them as a faithful and committed husband to their sister, Mrs Lydia Modupe Adegbite (nee Okeowo).

After everyone bore their minds on what they knew about him, which were full of encomiums, Alhaji Adegbite was then called upon for his remarks. And he didn't mince words in showing appreciation to everyone.

He then added how grateful he was to his children who organized the glorious birthday party for him to celebrate his nonagenarian year. He expressed gratitude to them and prayed that God will let them live long, be more blessed, with their good children who he prayed will also organise more glorious birthday with them.

After the cutting of the cake, dancing time followed. This he did briefly and returned to his Seat of Honour; while his children took over with the dancing, in turns. And their guests joined them in the dancing, as the musicians were doing what they know how to do best.

Meanwhile, Governor Dapo Abiodun's wife, Bamidele, who arrived shortly after the reception program started, went to meet Papa, the celebrant and knelt down completely to greet him, as it's common with cultured Yoruba women.

The trio of Mrs Abiodun, Mrs. Oyetola and her friend then sat together and began to engage in tete-a-tete while their host Mrs Otulana was attending to others. Shortly after that, Mrs. Otulana and her friends went out to dance together.
