Like 1993, Pastor Adeboye insists God hasn’t spoken to him on 2023 elections

By Charles Segun Adegbite

The General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God, Pastor Enoch Adeboye, has disclosed again to his global congregation and those who care to listen that God has been silent on whether or not there would be election in Nigeria next year.

The outstanding pastor of international reputation, made this known while ministering on Friday, at the church’s Redemption City during the November edition of the monthly program tagged, “Holy Ghost Service".

The 2023 general elections, according to the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, timetable, is barely three months from now. And different political parties and their candidates have began electioneering campaign.

Adeboye lamented the state of the nation and said he did not intend to scare anyone but noted God has not told him if the 2023 general elections will hold.

“I have not been told anything about next year’s election by God,” he said.

Pastor Adeboye explained that he is a pastor and not a prophet amidst the yet-to-come prophecy from God that he prayed for anyone who comes to him asking for prayers, maintaining that it is God who decides what happens after he prays.

“My duty is to pray. I pray for anyone who comes to me for prayers. It is left for God to decide what happens.”

However, this God's silence on the coming elections, brings to mind the similar experience in 1993 elections. For anyone who has been conversant with Adeboye's messages since 1993, can easily perceive a signal of looming crisis.

That was how God remained silent to him on the 1993 presidential election until the election was too close before God told him the presidential candidate of the then Social Democratic Party, SDP, Bashorun M.K.O. Abiola would win but he won't be allowed to rule the nation.

In one of his 1995 messages, Pastor Adeboye disclosed how God had told him before the 1993 election was conducted, what its outcome would be. And the reason it would be so.

The presidential candidate of the party and his running mate then were running a single faith ticket. The election was peaceful and freed and fair.

It was however annulled by the then military leaders, which consequently  plunged Nigeria into a prolonged crisis.
