Improvement Strategy: Prof. Odemuyiwa discloses OGSG efforts to streamline skill acquisition and vocational training.

As part of the strategies to take  development of manpower to higher level and continue to build a great future for Ogun State, the government has started making moves towards streamlining skill acquisition programmes, as well as technical and vocational education across the State.

The Special Adviser to the Governor on Technical and Vocational Education, Prof. Joseph Sunday Odemuyiwa who disclosed this in Abeokuta, noted that it would enable individuals, philanthropists, religious organisations, government agencies and Non-Governmental Organisations, among others, to meet up with the necessary prerequisite considered for the establishment of such programmes.

According to him, the move would address plethora of skills and vocational training programmes and centres that fall within the ambit of Technical and Vocational Education Training (TVET),  to achieve its set goals and objectives.

He added that the administration of Governor Dapo Abiodun appreciated the humanitarian gestures of empowering the people to be self-employed.

In spite of this, there should be evidence of competence in form of a certificate issued or approved by the government, whenever a skill acquisition programme is organised.

He made it clear that the government had put in place seamless measures to ensure that TVET programmes were qualitatively delivered across the State.

Prof Odemuyiwa  advised that any empowerment training in the State should be done in partnership with relevant agencies of government.

 This, according to him, would enable such training or empowerment program get government endorsement and certification.
